PROUDLY PINOY

As one song goes, " Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year".It's the perfect time to bond with our family and friends, but celebrating it far from your family causing it to be a lonely and cold Christmas.
To be outdated with the news makes you disjointed the occurred events locally and globally. This is the disadvantage of having no TV and radio.I just found out earlier or so that JOllibee offered newspaper freely to every breakfast time with side orders apart from the Jolly Value Meal.
I got 3 bundles of Phil.Star collections from my frequent breakfast at Jollibee and planning of constituting a habit. My early tutorials at 7 in the morning induced my propensity to eat at Jollibee at 6 before I proceeded to my class.
Reading newspaper gives you a lot of ideas what to write and that's where I got this picture of what I'm going to post now.
Funfare column of Ricky Lo had featured a young Pinay singer Charice Pempengco who made wows to the Koreans with her belting voice in a korean tv show.I searched her name at Youtube immediately as she was truly performed well that filled the korean judges with bewilderment and sudden great wonder.

(Charice on her winning form at a Korean TV show)
a.("Check Youtube to see Charice performed at a certain Korean TV Show")
b.Click here to see Charice featured at Ellen DeGeneres Show
The young gal hails from Laguna and started to sing at early age of 4 which joined several singing contest. She got discovered by a researcher of Ellen DeGeneres and invited Charice to be her guest.
Philippine Star,Funfare (column of Ricky Lo) dated December 26,another Pinoy had made it international humbly started as a lead singer of a local band ZOO, has been chosen as lead vocalist of the 80's US band Journey.
Yes, you read it from here that the person Arnel Pineda caught the JOurney's attention via the Youtube singing Journey hits.

(here Arnel in the middle with the Journey members)
Journey was among my fave bands in the 80's with their famous hits; Ever Since the World Began; Faithfully; Open Arms; to name a few.
To my disbelief, I searched Arnel's name at Youtube which was I myself had astonished to believe how he gave justice and holds the songs with his voice by heart.Arnel was personally invited by Journey to audition for the band in San Francisco, but Arnel Pineda got the attention of the band because of the exact spot of notes that made Steve Perry famous.
The band which is said to have not fully recovered from the resignation of its vocalist Steve Perry in 1987, but returned for a short reunion in 1996, and then another vocalist who replaced Steve,Jeff Scott left the band only last June.
Auditioning for JOurney's openly unfold to full width not only in tv but online.Die hard fans of the band, aren't happy with the decision. Some have had unrefined comments offensively with a taste of straight racism evenly putting down Arnel.
"Journey is supposed to be an all American band & move to outsourcing the job cheaper Asian labor"
(source:Journeyforums.com)
Despite of that unsophisticated criticism, Charice and Arnel makes me feel very proud.Good comments from other countries that have had seen the performance of our proud Pinoys on the popular video sharing YouTube, boast the morale of every Filipinos that we truly a world class performers.
Check Youtube how Arnel proved his worth to be the vocalist of Journey....

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

Without a doubt, Christmas is probably one of the most celebrated holidays there is. Planning parties, decorating the house, making and wrapping presents, keeping secrets ...tis definitely "the season to be jolly!"
It is also the season of great anticipation and intoxicating expectation, of happiness and joy, of warmth and togetherness, of sharing and giving.
I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to "YOU," all my wonderful and special friends, fellow bloggers and passersby who have visited my blog pages throughout the year and have brought so much joy and warmth back to me with all your wonderful and thoughful messages.I really want you to know that I truly appreciate the difference you have all made in my life. Each and every one of you have been a true blessing bestowed upon me and I do love you all!
I wish for you, my dear friends, all the good things of the season to treasure and enjoy.I also wish for you the time to spend with those who mean the most to you, and wishing you many heartfelt memories to keep close to you when the season is past. But most of all, I wish you peace, joy, and happiness to warm your hearts, now and all through the coming year.
I have tried to include Christmas poem made by Penny Parker that will bring enjoyment for ALL.

I Said A Christmas Prayer For You

I said a Christmas Prayer for you
Because the season's near.
I didn't ask for riches
But for gifts so much more dear.

Praying

I asked for joyful gatherings
With your family all round,
And for carols to inspire you
With their old familiar sound.

Praying

I asked for quiet moments
In your heart on Christmas morn,
For a special time to celebrate
The Savior who was born.

Praying

I asked for friends to send their best
That you might know they care;
I asked for peace and love and hope,
And I know God heard my prayer.

LONG-TERM HEALTH BENEFITS

(www7.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/0511/feature1/)

Let me filled my blog with life-longevity or long-term health benefits this time.Obviously, the previous entry I posted tackled relatively about vegetarianism.
I'm not only telling why I am seriously determined of advocating the eating of only vegetable foods, but promoting it at the same time.
We all want to live longer healthy, the longer we stay off to meats, the more health benefits our body will experience.
Act of observing was the first thing I did to a group of health-conscious people, they envisioned another source of protien out of animal ingredients is cheaper and healthful.Your ample budget won't be affected that much if vegetables is the first consumption to consume.

"As cost of meat and chicken increased and people got affected with cardiovascular diseases and cancer, Doctors and health conscious people saw the healthful, positive advantage of vegetarian foods. After all, the original diet God gave man never included flesh food."

The National Geographic magazine sometimes features the "Secrets of Long Life" by visiting those centenarians who are still living at the age beyond 100.
Some of them were from Japan,USA (an SDA),and Sardinia. If you wish them to read and watch the video, just visit the website of National Geographic online
Try to read what was the reaction of an Expedionist about these vegetarian people:
"World Renowned Expeditionist to Speak on Secrets of Long Life
The secrets to living a longer, healthier life will be in the spotlight when expeditionist Dan Buettner speaks at Science Night, an annual event hosted by the Cambridge Campus science faculty of Anoka-Ramsey Community College. The free event will be held in the Cambridge Campus Center Food Court on Tuesday, Feb. 7, beginning at 7 p.m.
A pioneer in both exploration and education, Buettner recently led expeditions to the world’s longevity hotspots, called “Blue Zones.” On assignment for National Geographic Magazine and in collaboration with the National Institute on Aging, Buettner used his travels to study diet and lifestyle and create a blueprint for living longer. His presentation will blend adventure, science and wisdom as he delivers secrets of longevity and ways to feel younger and reduce health care costs.
Buettner’s article on the secrets of longevity appeared in the November 2005 cover story of National Geographic.
Buettner, a resident of St. Paul, Minn., has previously logged thousands of miles on educational expeditions. In addition, he has created the innovative adventure learning program known as Quest Network. This online program has enabled online explorers to direct Buettner and a traveling team of experts as they unravel such mysteries as the collapse of the ancient Maya civilization and the fall of the Anasazi in North America. The Washington Post have called his quests “the most successful experiment in interactive education to date.”
An avid cyclist, Buettner has also set several Guinness World Records for long-distance cycling. Among his cycling accomplishments, he has led a team of cyclists on a 15,500-mile ride from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Tiera del Fuego, Argentina, as well as a 12,888-mile trek that went through the Soviet Union while it was still in existence."

Aside from extending our age beyond the cut-off of mans' life, the other secret is applying the NEWSTART.
NEWSTART stands for:
N-nutrition
E-xercise
W-ater
S-unlight
T-emperance
A-ir
R-est
T-rust in the Lord

My church (SDA) is practicing this virtue in order to stay longer, healthy and prosperous. Why don't you try them at home...
Another Seventh Day Adventist, from Loma Linda California says:
"Tired of rushing in the mornings, mom Kim Rawson, at right, a Seventh-day Adventist in California, found a way to slow down the day for her family. When morning comes, they gather to pray, which studies indicate may help extend life. "Some days we just pray for the boys to get along," she says."

THINK GREEN,THINK VEGETARIAN

Ever thought of going on a vegetarian diet? I did, settling to be vegetarian wasn't a plan but I was being encouraged and influenced by people who are preferring to eat vegetables rather to meat..I have circle of professional friends who are pure vegan.
It's been 7 years now that I am observing the vegetarian habit and even embracing the rules that everything should be vegetables alone,no milk, dairy cream,no candies, junk foods, and everything that is not healthy foods.
However, deciding to be vegetarian isn't easy...I was struggling so hard and got sick for awhile and controlling oneself with disciplining that I am a vegetarian now.
Why go veggie? a vegetarian diet is healthy because vegetarians consume no animal fat and less cholesterol.Instead, they consume more fiber and more antioxidants.
Aside from that, being vegetarian is a disease free..so it's safe to say that going on a vegetarian diet will keep you out of harm's way.

There are categories that you can select what level of vegetarianism you wish to observe:
1.Lacto Vege: Eats dairy products and plant-based foods but doesn't eat meat, poultry, fish, and eggs.
2.Lacto-Ovo Vege: Eats dairy products (milk, cheese), eggs, and all plant-based foods( vegetables, grains, fruits)
3.Ovo Vege: Eats eggs and plant-based foods, but not dairy products.
4.Vegan or Pure Vegetarian: Eats only plant-based foods.

5.Pesco Vege: Eats fish, eggs and dairy products, but eliminated meats such as: beef,pork,chicken,etc)plant-based foods.
(Source: http://candymag.com/bodybuzz )

I am practically a Pesco-Vegetarian,and is still on the process of eliminating fish and eggs and dairy products moderately.
Sometimes invitations like occasional parties where foods that you avoided to eat are the usual array being served.
Combatting yourself mentally as to whether you eat or not is a hard to do,there's this fighting of emotions and the mental thing. Oftentimes, to avoid any possible hard feelings towards the host, I reluctantly grace the occasion and taste a little of meat..but I learned from vegetarian friends that its better to tell the host honestly before the occasion came that you are a vegetarian,if the host insist and preparations of vege foods is openly to serve for you alone, then join the party and savor the vege foods that is served intended for you.

Even celebrities have gone promoting of Vegetarianism globally..and among them is Sohie Monk,to name a few.
Australian pop singing sensation and actor Sophie Monk is as compassionate as she is beautiful. That's why she jumped at the opportunity to speak up for animals by shedding her clothes and posing nude in a bed of chili peppers alongside the tagline "Spice Up Your Life—Go Vegetarian" in one of PETA's sexiest vegetarian PSAs to date.

Additional Info to encourage everyone to practice Vegetarianism:

A Southampton University team found that those who were vegetarian by 30 had recorded five IQ points more on average at the age of 10. Men who were vegetarian had an IQ score of 106, compared with 101 for non-vegetarians; while female vegetarians averaged 104, compared with 99 for non-vegetarians. Make sense that people with high IQ tend to rationalize, think and act more than those with a low number, so here is the question: do people become vegetarian because of their high IQ, or because this “high” intelligence make them aware of health issues? What was first, the chicken, or the egg?

Where Can You Eat Vegetarian Dishes?
Visit these veggie-friendly spots:
Chimaro Neo-Vegan Cafe' - Greenbelt 3
Hue Vietnamese Restaurant- Greenbelt 3
Bodhi - SM Megamall,SM Makati,SM Fairview, Madison Square, San Jaun
Healthy Options - Rustan's Market

SDA and Jesus Latter Day Saints are among the religions in the world that promotes vegetarianism...Biblically speaking, the Lord wants us to observe the "Back to Eden" practices which was done by our great grandparents Adam & Eve.
Eating vegetables is a one way of transforming our lives physically as we are taking care of them.

A COLD LONELY CHRISTMAS

Christmas is the longest celebration of the year. It's the fave holiday of all and the most joyous one than birthdays.
Different decorations and lights colored everywhere..the luminous and vibrant colors combine brings the stillness of the night.Various songs of Christmas can be heard being played in the radio, which a lullaby to ears.
Giving gifts is the customary being practice by everyone.Wind blows touches with a sensation of cold; Christmas carols serenaded us a dampening of excitement as we gratify the yuletide season with whims.
Sumptuous foods in different array are highly pronounced, filling our gluttony with satisfaction.Exchanging cards among friends, lovers, and families symbolizes unity that Christmas is truly in our hearts.
Being away from family for 13 long years is a disheartening cold lonely Christmas.Blows of solitary clouded my heart of emotions that celebrating the holiday which abstractedly far from my parent is already such as occurs in the ordinary course of events, notwithstanding, still the essence of the season turns to be pensive with a sober reflection as melancholic tears fell down, at whatever time countenance of my parent's come into view.
Amusing myself is the remedy that comes to mind, rescuing the yearning wish of my heart squanderedly passing the time of wandering around as it slowly subsided.
My parents is the best propeller of inspirations why I forcibly surviving in this sphere against the collosal waves of hardship and mishaps in life.
Another reason for this Christmas is reuniting our relative from a great distance.Spending it with them this yuletide is a hope to meet.I'll be in Olongapo city my second home for Christmas, once more rekindling my childhood memories.
Passersby, fellow bloggers, friends and regular readers of my blog ...Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.

MEN OF STYLE

Fashion defines as the prevailing style or mode, specially in dress.During the old times, fashion was purposely intended for women or ladies which they can freely expressed themselves what to wear according to the custom practice by the society.
They can style and put everything fashionably-head over heels, as long as they'll look unlike and differently above the rest.As time went by, man became educated and increase in knowledge, the outlook in life become profoundly broaden yet a bit stereotyped. The mode of dressing was gradually changing and even applies to men after all.
Men who dressed too much was considered "gay" during the old times, but today men are even competing with women to style.Guys who usually vain or conscious about thier looks are the common trendsetter that refused to stay outdoors unless they are able to fix themselves.Ladies practically attracted to men who knows how to carry themselves, neatly plainlooking.
Following the fad is also basing the personality...Choosing the colors and blending them is a factor of distinctively form of expression.I love to mix and match in a different angle, but it is also logically basis of the tone of your skin color.
I have list of guys whom I look up to when it comes to style and fondly mimicking them..regardless of the brand,I always find colors and style of their dresses from malls down to ukay-ukayan...

1.Uttsada

Utts is an MTV VJ, at his age right now(we're at the same age)he doesn't look old nor matured enough to be at his age..aside from that I like the way he balance his mode in dressing that made him look fresh and young...wish I could follow that and maintain the baby-look just as what he did.

2.David Beckham

Everyone recognized him..David is an epitome of a metamorphosis to every males who look up to him as a fashion icon...The world knows his style and expensive brands that describe his taste in fashion. He is one of the most photograph men of all and the branded man.

3.Lenny Kravitz

Lenny Kravits is among I adore most in terms of style..He never runs out of style and idea and plainly choose the best clothes that truly fits his taste.

4.Aaron Kwok

Among Asian men..Aaron Kwok is included in the list..I don't know him that much nor had the chance to watch his movie but pictures are enough to prove that he knows to the proper clothes to wear occasionally and privately...a very decent look and perfectly classy.

5.Tim Yap

At top five our very own Tim Yap..an eventologist or event organizer who is considered a chameleon because of his different style and taste of dressing..everybody finds him annoying and even called him monicker..but for me he is a man of style and very creative of combining colors that made him totally a fashionista in the century...

6.Tyson Beckford

The last on my list was..Tyson Beckford..the former Calvin Klein undies model..this Black Model brought so much justice to those Black American who wish to enter the world of fashion..his style is very manly and expressively strong attractive.

Well, I have no other on the list aside this 6 persons...I am admiring these people how they updated themselves on fashion.I considerably myself a worst social climber but following their styles isn't a crime as long as you aren't out of the circulation enough that you won't be the cause of laughter.I really dream of becoming like them..just in mode of dressing only.
I don't follow the trend just to capture attention but to indulge and reward myself...having your favorites I think is not a crime but persons' you idolized of how the way they dressed.
Occasionally, dressing-up is important according to the juncture of events like going to church;I like how Aaron Kwok match his self to the classy type of clothing which is decent and formal.
Sometimes or most of the times,David Beckham the gazelle of elegance yet, retrospective that made him the sought image model of every commercials..
On parties,Tim Yap and VJ Utts are the icons that I worship to follow..I like their fresh looking and combining of different colors.
Tyson style is a perfect fit for everyday and usual days occasion with his country looking....Lenny Kravitz this black rock enroll singer is a mix and match of elegance yet,casual...its a paradigm for malling and dating in style..

THE EXODUS OF FILIPINO TEACHERS

Philippine provides the best teachers in the world, the reasons Filipino teachers are in demand abroad. This has been the problems-the country is facing ever since.
The experts called the mass departure of Filipino Teachers "Brain Drain" which only not referred to medical term of brain problems.
My last year entry was also discussing about "The Brain Drain" which was debatedly tells the mass exodus of Filipino skilled professional workers.
The grass is greener at the other side that continually lure our Teachers. With a very high compensations, who wouldn't be tempted to leave as that our Government cannot afford to elevate the good offers abroad. Can we stop our teachers from leaving? If only our Government provides the exact needs of our educators, surely our skilled teachers won't tempt to depart.
Teaching is a noble profession, they are the ones who inspired the students to dream and achieved their goals in life. The teachers, are among of those mediocre job(as they said) who just receiving-not ample of salary but meager, may it be at Private school the least at Public school.
I never dreamed of becoming a teacher because there's no money in teaching, nor predicting myself as an educator and molding students.Contrariwise, I graduated as a Secondary Education major but having no choice but to teach. However, travelling abroad has been a top choice and teaching abroad would be the second option if given the chance.
When I read Philippine Daily Star (which I forgot the exact date)just to be updated of the current events globally, my instinct led me to the Editorial column to check the latest and hottest issue in the Government, usually among the unsolved crisis which is the influx of skilled Filipino teachers.
The column startled me to cause my curiosity of reading the article seriously. My heart was awfully distressed as my eyes sadly gazing at the picture inscribed of a crying teacher flying away from her students begging her to stop on leaving. If this dilemma would continue to happen uncontrollably what will happen to our young future leaders? Mostlikely, the mediocre teachers are the one who'll be left behind.
I know a certain two Math teachers who were being hired by the US government and they are currently enjoying their lives in Southern Carolina provided by car and house of the government. The salary they're earning is just an equivalent of a CEO wage..
Herewith, was an article:
" A WIDENING DIVIDE FROM THE PHILIPPINE STAR"
Here we are facing a crisis in education, and nearly 200 teachers are leaving for high-paying jobs in the United States.A report said 198 Filipinos will soon be teaching in a county in Maryland, with starting salaries of up to $43,841 a year. There's no way the Philippine Government can match that salary, and teachers cannot be prevented from leaving for better livelihood opportunities. This doesn't make the exodus of teachers any less painful for the country.
Globalization has created a huge marketplace for certain skills, and people are moving around the world to take advantage of the job opportunities. The movement has created an imbalance in labor supply that favors affluent economies.Rich countries can hire all the foreign workers they need; developing countries are hard-pressed to replace the professionals and skilled workers who leave.
Conservative estimates place the number of Filipinos working overseas at eight million. That's a tenth of the entire population, and the number continues to grow. The annual multibillion-peso remittances are good for economic growth figures, helping keep the peso strong and reducing the country's debt burden. But the burden on many other aspects of national life is getting worse.
Experts have warned that low teaching salaries have resulted in a drastic drop in the number of Filipinos seeking careers in education. Those who do pursue careers as teachers are often in a hurry to find jobs overseas.Inevitably, the best teachers are the ones who get hired, leaving the less qualified to handle teaching jobs in the Philippines.
Most of the country's best teachers are in private schools that can afford to pay high salaries. This leave millions of students in public schools with teachers who lack the skills that are urgently needed to bridge a widening education divide between the rich and poor.
A program can be undertaken to develop a competent pool of teachers who can impart skills to colleagues across the country. This is not an impossible task and should not entail an enormous amount of investment. There are ways of enticing teachers to stay in their own land, or to at least set aside several years of their lives to serve their own people. It is good to know that Filipinos are finding high-paying jobs and better lives overseas.
It will be even better if Filipinos can be encouraged to remain in their own country and help make life better for their compatriots.

CURING INSOMNIA WITHOUT PILLS

Sleeping is one of the best tools to keep you look young and healthy.Sleeping at night is the other way wherein God is repairing our physical body from the destroying stress of this world..that according to my College Dean.
Honestly,I am having a hard time of sleeping to complete the 7 hours....I think 4 to 5 hours is the longest and even the regular number of hours I got every night.
Up to now,I am trying to keep myself comfortable and worry free emotionally and mentally to get a good sleep, yet, nothing works.
Pimples to acne were the usual signs that came out when I am lack of sleep.Up to now, I am still sufferring to this kind sleep epidemia..well hope this article that I posted below from Yahoo would somehow help me in a little way to regain my sleep.
While browsing the net,I came across to this article posted at Yahoo.

Better sleep doesn’t have to come in a pill.
For people with chronic insomnia, studies show that simple behavioral and psychological treatments work just as well, and sometimes better, than popular medications, according to a report in The Journal of Family Practice.
The medical journal Sleep last year reported on five high-quality trials that showed cognitive behavioral therapy helped people suffering from insomnia fall asleep sooner and stay asleep longer. Another American Journal of Psychiatry analysis of 21 studies showed that behavioral treatment helped people fall asleep nearly nine minutes sooner than sleep drugs. In other measures, sleep therapy worked just as well as drugs, but without any side effects.
The behavioral strategies for better sleep are deceptively simple, and that’s one reason why many people don’t believe they can make a difference. One of the most effective methods is stimulus control. This means not watching television, eating or reading in bed. Don’t go to bed until you are sleepy. Get up at the same time every day, and don’t nap during the day. If you are unable to sleep, get out of bed after 15 minutes and do something relaxing, but avoid stimulating activity and thoughts.
So-called sleep hygiene is also part of sleep therapy. This includes regular exercise, adding light-proof blinds to your bedroom to keep it dark and making sure the bed and room temperatures are comfortable. Eat regular meals, don’t go to bed hungry and limit beverages, particularly alcohol and caffeinated drinks, around bedtime.
Finally, don’t try too hard to fall asleep, and turn the clock around so you can’t see it. Watching time pass is one of the worst things to do when you’re trying to fall asleep.
It may be hard to believe, but studies show these simple steps really do make a meaningful difference for people with sleep problems. These interventions are based on the notion that thoughts and behaviors can “hyper-arouse” the central nervous system and deregulate sleep cycles, resulting in chronic insomnia, reports Family Practice.
If these steps don’t work, talk to your doctor about a referral to a sleep therapist, who can also teach you additional relaxation techniques to help bring on sleep. Sometimes, a therapist might work with you to reset your sleep-wake schedule, a more involved process whereby patients adjust their bedtime each night over the course of a few weeks.

REUNITING BACK

It's always good to see old friends back then. Before I came back here in Luzon,I ended studying at Cebu without much expecting that I would earned my first College course, which was eventually the choice of my parents due to the scholarship I obtain from BFAR.
That was the glorious years of the 1990's where I hit Cebu as my chosen place for studying.Much to my strong disagreement,my mother was adamant of my decision.
Afraid to be gradeless and nothingless, I went to Cebu with gusto because of the influential power of my cousin and friends.I never dreamed of going to Cebu but my friends were much more excited because of its tag "Queen City of the South".
Well,I was already in Cebu naive as I was, without idea what really exactly the nature of my course, yet, helpless so to speak.
To sum up,I honestly enjoyed my early youth at Cebu.I was even a member of dance troupe, actively participating the extra curricular.Unusual to carnal were the basic activities you thought to do while staying in the dormitory.
Meeting friends are the most common consumptions of every teen-agers while on the peak of adjusting College. For my 3 long years of studied in Cebu was a great memento to recall specially if you already constructed mutual friendships whom you never met for 13 years now.
Living in a small world as small world as it is,I never thought of meeting a former classmate back in Cebu.It started when I attended a christening in Pasay where another former classmate in Cebu was there attended too, because he happens to be the Uncle of the kid.Thats where I started to have link of my other classmates.
One whom I never imagined to meet in Tagaytay-who was not really so close, yet,a playboy then, had just arrived in the exact season which the length of years that we haven't met right after the graduation was indeed tiding and surprisingly meetings.
Just after the graduation that was 1994,I stayed for awhile in Mactan with the hope I could find my luck in Cebu city.Unfortunately, fate as we may called it seemed to be unkind,so I had decided to go back in Olongapo, then.
That oblivion prevails till I haven't expected that time will heals and brings you back the abandoned memories. So,I met up a former classmates in Tagaytay with his contemporaries in Seminary.....take note..it's not on his personality then the image of an aspiring Priest.????????????????
We exchanged chit-chat as we were trying to dig out the buried time, which I considerately too much to forget.
It was a good temporal reunion but memorable one....time hadn't permitted us to talk for that long for they need to go back...Honestly, I am proud that both of us has changed not just only physically but mentally and emotionally as well.
Words that naturally came out were of deep and unfathomably unlike.
Seeing the other more were also at hand...wishing and pondering when it will come...if there is a bridge of rainbow that connects the other side,it would be easily to greet friends back home.

PHILIPPINES GREAT CONTROVERSY

As I was browsing the net reading blogs, especially the entry of David...I came across in his comment about the recent issues done by two irrisponsible and insensitive individuals....here's what David had said.
Teri Hatcher, Malu Fernandez, and The Daily Show What do they all have in common? All have managed to anger the Filipino community.
Teri Hatcher, an American actress, insulted Philippine medical schools and professionals in a controversial clip from the premiere of ABC’s "Desperate Housewives." Susan Mayer, (played by Teri Hatcher) was consulting a gynecologist and refuses to be examined. She replied: “Okay, before we go any further, can I check those diplomas? Coz I would just like to make sure they are not from some med school in the Philippines.” The Philippine government is now seeking an apology from the American television network ABC and the producers of the hit US television series “Desperate Housewives.” The issue with Malu Fernandez, a Manila Standard Today columnist and contributor to People Asia Magazine, occurred a couple of months back and involved her making degrading and offensive comments towards Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and Filipinos in general in her infamous People Asia article. Amongst the animosity and death threats from upset Filipinos, it did not take long before she resigned. And most recently, the American satirical television program “The Daily Show” made a bad and tasteless joke towards Filipinos in their skit “Is America Ready for a Woman President?" They had former Philippine President Corazon Aquino labeled as a slut. Officials and citizens called for a public apology for the insulting portrayal. What is the lesson? Perhaps mothers no longer teach this to their children, but the lesson is simple. “If you have nothing nice to say, then don’t say anything at all.” David is right....if you have nothing to say then,,you better shut your mouth...or hire the Black Eyed Peas to sing their song " Shut Up". Not only that,a site owned by a Filipino Bisaya OFW, commented:To think that the paper itself is titled the Manila Standard Today, begs the question as to what kind of standards they are upholding. Indeed with such an article that was written by Malu Fernandez, The Manila Standard Today should have stepped up to the plate and fired Malu Fernandez. People Asia Magazine should never have ran that article as well. In what will turn out to be yet another defining moment in this blogger’s short-lived career, I will again take another stand. This time, I hope that many of our readers will take this to task and spread the word. Just like the spreading of Malu Fernandez’s hateful article has occurred, let us spread one voice to combat such bigotry and intolerance in our nation. I am proposing, effective immediately, the forced resignation of Malu Fernandez, a worthy apology from her, as well The Manila Standard Today and People Asia, and until this occurs, we should all move for a boycott on The Manila Standard Today as well as People Asia Magazine. (Note: this specific post is going to act as a temporary signature campaign, all those who wish to take part, leave a simple comment, with your name and email, and consider yourself as having made a stand.) Email your friends, leave a comment in this section, tell family members, write a blog post, and spread the word, that this boycott is to be nationwide, and that no one should buy The Manila Standard Today until they fire Malu Fernandez and make a proper statement of apology. Just as Senator Ninoy Aquino died in order for our country to prosper against such intolerance and oppression, we too should not let our guard down even to a wannabe writer such as Malu Fernandez. MAKE DREAMS HAPPEN

Going out of the country or visiting America in particular is one of my tenacious desires or childhood dreams.
Before the day of my graduation was a great controversy, worrying, thinking deeply where to go where to apply, etc.
I think that's the usual feelings of a coming newly grad, mixed emotions of happiness and worries for making the 4 long years of studying successful.Of course, worrying if there's a job awaiting at the gate welcoming you.
Before the formal day of my graduation,an offer came to me to work as Canvasser or let say Sales Representative in layman's term in Texas.
Of course, who wouldn't like to work in USA? who never dream of seeing America? I think 99% of Filipinos were dreaming of that.
Nonetheless,I grabbed the opportunity with the hope it would be a dream come true...it was a guy from Ecuador who recruited me with some of the students in my school.
We excitedly attended the meeting which some of my batch unceasingly contacted thru text and email to the guy from Ecuador, hoping that they could be at the first list.
Seriously, the other went on selling their personal assets and properties just to avail the costly visa and other dues.
To no avail, and because I was also busy sending my resumes' locally and internationally with great hopes that I could land to a stable and good paying job. However, without my knowledged the recruiter called for a second major meeting without informing me,yet, friends who were part of it refused to give me a call nor text.
That announcement went like this, those who failed to attend the second major meeting won't be accepted...in other words,I never receive the invitation and my name was blotted out.Honestly,I was really angry and frustrated to those whom I considered to be friends yet, pretentious but selfish individuals.
However,I was already accepted as teacher in a language Institute,at that moment when the announcement of those who were not included to fly for Texas..well, it was also a blessing in disguise, but I can't help myself to think of my batch who are enjoying their lives in USA right now and thinking puzzly how could those simple students made it to the US Embassy without any problems?
Truly,I still feel the pain of being betrayed.Herewith, are some of the pictures with my batchmate as they are enjoying the imported lives in US.I stole these pictures at their friendster accounts without asking permission.
But the persons behind of these pictures were good pals of mine..so no need to worry at all.The following pictures below owned by some good pals but they aren't the one I am mentioning above..they are innocent though.

CLOSE ENCOUNTER WITH PILAR PILAPIL

I am awfully sorry for pulling the disappearing act for 7 days.It was during my leisure hours when I got the chance and began to engrave this short diary.
Reasonably, I had been occupied in some other work.I would have updated this blog if it's not being taken away from busyness.
Last August, I posted my trip experienced at Baguio.I relatively wrote at the coming part near the end of my writings "my up-close meetings" with a veteran Actress-Beauty Queen, whom I refused to mention as a respect to her, though, she had shown an inclement gesture because of the persistence I made of asking her for a picture taking, politely.
A week ago, while I was in SM-Dasma waiting for my friend, I had thought of dropping by at National Bookstore to avoid boredom.Instantaneously, while turning around towards the center of the bookstore, I was unpurposely passed through the Biographical section and saw this book " The Woman Without A Face".The picture was vividly clear to me that it was the young Pilar on front cover.
Immediately the recollections happened leading me to remember in what manner she swelled up by raising her voice at me.That paused me for awhile and took my time to reading half way of the book as it was the only one unwrapped with a plastic.
The book was written by herself-Pilar Pilapil was once a beauty queen representative to the Miss Universe before she joined the tumultuous world of showbiz.
Upon reading her personal testimony, my norms of passing judgment has changed and that's when I got to know her as an Actress and a person. She shamelessly revealed everything included the dark side of her life, how she went through the ups and down of life till she succeeded and found all the answers of her questionings through Christ.
I had learned of my reading on her book, that even celebrities and famous people aren't exempted of the problems coming in.What inspired me most was her strong personality as Pilar Pilapil as she is, amidst of the lewd act being done by a man-blood related to her.
She could have committed suicide in a way that her integrity was ruined, yet, she made it on top as a beauty queen and one of the most sought actresses in the country during her time.
She had failed in love several times to a different men with the hope she could find the right man for her. Her decisions of surrendering it all to God brings peace and happiness that settled her life to a woman with the face.
Well, I found myself entertained and amused of my reading. The moment you'll read her book the Pilar Pilapil whom we know as villain, antagonist both TV and movie is a different Pilar in person.
Many asked previously, why did I bother myself to have a picture taking with this not so old yet, mataray Actress?
Well, she's a veteran actress and considerably one of the pillars of the Philippine Movie. She's intelligent and one of a few local celebrities who can express herself in plain, yet, refine English.Lastly, she's a good actress  when we say a veteran, she made history.

GOD ALWAYS ANSWERS PRAYER

There are only two kinds of life, two spectacular set of images of life that humanity can see, Happiness and Sadness.
Most of the entries I posted previously, brought sadness to those who happened to read.It speaks frustration, depression and nothing but about sadness.Because of the plight that I have right now,I thought of God closes His ears to listen my poor supplications since none of my prayers had answered.
I visited my Alma Mater (AUP) and stayed there for a couple of days.Mostlikely,I usually stayed at periodical section to satisfy my longingness of reading books, magazines, and newspapers.
While browsing a certain religious magazine, one eye-catching column had opened the blindness in me that God is still answering even my faintest prayer.
Let me share this encouraging messages which I photocopied, just to let everybody know God really answers prayer.

When the idea is not right God says, "No."

No ~ when the idea is not the best.

No ~ when the idea is absolutely wrong.

No ~ when though it may help you, it could create problems for someone else.

When the time is not right, God says, "Slow."

What a catastrophe it would be if God answered every prayer at the snap of your fingers.

Do no you know what would happen? God would become your servant, not your master.

Suddenly, God would be working for you instead of you working for God.

Remember:

God's delays are not God's denials.

God's timing is perfect.

Patience is what we need in prayer.

When you are not right, God says, "Grow."

The selfish person has to grow in unselfishness.

The cautious person must grow courage.

The timid person must grow in confidence.

The dominating person must grow in sensitivity.

The critical person must grow in tolerance.

The negative person must grow in positive attitudes.

The pleasure-seeking person must grow in compassion for suffering people.

When everything is all right, God says, "Go."

Then the miracles happen:

A hopeless alcoholic is set free!

A drug addict finds release!

A doubter becomes as a child in his belief.

Diseased tissue responds to treatment, healing begins.

The door to your dream suddenly swings open

and there stands God saying, "Go!"

The purpose of prayer is not to give you what you want, when you want it. But the purpose of prayer is to turn you into the kind of person God wants you to be so he can answer your prayer in the way it needs to be answered..

God answers prayer always in one of four ways: When conditions are not right, God says "no." When the time is not right, God says "slow." When you are not right, "God answers grow!" When everything is right, God says, "GO!

God does not advertise an "Instant Prayer Answering Service." Nowhere in the entire Bible can you find that God will do anything you ask Him to do when you snap you finger or when you make your verbal demand. But when everything is right - the conditions, the time, you yourself, and all else - then the answer is "Yes!"

God maintains control in the area of the why and the when. If to your very sincere prayer He answers no, and you ask Him why you can be sure God will not answer or explain. God doesn't answer why questions for this simple reason: You really want to argue and God refuses to be drawn into an argument. Any reasons that He would give in answer to your why question would not satisfy.

God never explains why and God never promises when. His delays are not denials. His timing is perfect. Patience is what we need in prayer. Some people don't suffer from doubt as much as they suffer from impatience. P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E is one of the ways to spell faith!

"O rest in the Lord, wait patiently for Him and He shall give thee thy heart's desire.

I CAN GO THE DISTANCE

Living in this lonely planet is prone to the confrontation of depressible.Yes, depression that reduces the significant of your being to nothingness mentally and physically.
I had just recuperated from a great low spirit not so long since, but unexpected attack of another depressing notable occurence, nearly weakens my resolution.I have been the recipient of depressant frequently, this time.Just surprised deeply why it has to be like this, yet, this is not the kind of life I am anticipating to have.
One of my so-called investment from my salary which I had earned from my teaching at the Language Institute was my MP4.This little gadget plays important role in my life specially in times of exhaustion.Every songs that I played in my MP4 enthralled my tiresome senses into amusing means of curing wholly.
Thanks to the song I downloaded "I Can Go The Distance" originally sang by Michael Bolton, recently revised by Josh Groban. The song deeply spoke to my heart as I was in my solitude trying to foretell the time to come.
I was profoundly relieved by the message as I repeatedly played the song.Soothing touch of the sonata calmly bathed me in tender massage of inspirations.
If you'll go on and savor the message of the song it'll arouse your bravado,no matter how depressed you are, if you will find your way-you can do the distance.
Try to listen and internalize the song being played as the melody tickles your ear.

"I CAN GO THE DISTANCE"

I have often dreamed
Of a far off place
Where a hero's welcome
Would be waiting for me
Where the crowds will cheer
When they see my face
And a voice keeps saying
This is where I'm meant to be

I'll be there someday
I can go the distance
I will find my way
If I can be strong
I know ev'ry mile
Will be worth my while
When I go the distance
I'll be right where I belong

Down an unknown road
To embrace my fate
Though the road may wander
It will lead me to you
And a thousand years
Would be worth the wait
It may take a lifetime
But somehow I'll see it through

And I won't look back
I can go the distance
And I'll stay on track
No I won't accept defeat
It's an uphill slope
But I won't lose hope
Till I go the distance
And my journey is complete

But to look beyond the glory is the hardest part
For a hero's strength is measured by his heart

Like a shooting star
I can go the distance
I will search the world
I will face its harms
I don't care how far
I can go the distance
TillI find my hero's welcome
Waiting in your arms...

I will search the world
I will face its harms
TillI find my hero's welcome
Waiting in your arms...

THROUGH THE BARRICADES

In this troubled land, desperation keeps us down, it really test your ground.Searching for a good-high-paying-job is really hard to find nowadays in this country.
There were million of jobhunters in this land including myself.Hungry cows will surely go for a greener luxuriant grass to satisfy the hungry abdomen. I thought the moment I finally step out in the big University would be a piece of cake as College graduate.Much to my surprise, the competition is so tough, multitude of starving prey were also in competitive situation.
When I seriously face the world for the 3rd times, unexpected wrong surmise amazed me that my education isn't enough tool to guarantee that a better career which cosiderately a lifetime monetary wise awaits beforehand, contrariwise, its an upsetting conundrum.
Afraid to be idle after graduation, offer from mediocre job was so hard to resist. My happiness had no bounds when I got the job as teacher at a Language Institute with in doubt of the verbal agreement suspiciously.
For a very short of two months working at the Language Institute wasn't a feeling of pleasurable that comes when a need or desire is fulfilled because I was expecting that I could stay a bit longer as I confidently believed since my enjoyment for teaching was sincerely with deep feeling and full spirit inspite of workin' with those insincere claimed SDA Christians or pious to be exact.
My cognition had come to a definite presentiment that its better to work with those non-believers rather to those who profess to be missionaries and SDA Christians, yet, ironically disagreeing what is supposed to be as it is. Christ had said at Matthew 23 verses 3,27 & 33,"FOR THEY DON'T PRACTICE WHAT THEY PREACH;"WOE TO YOU HYPOCRITES YOU ARE LIKE WHITE WASHED TOMBS WHICH LOOK BEAUTIFUL ON THE OUTSIDE BUT FULL OF DEAD MEN'S BONES AND EVERYTHING UNCLEAN;"YOU SNAKES! YOU BROOD OF VIPERS." what a blant yet painful statement, isn't it?
Sometimes human nature prone to criticize what is exactly visible to the eyes. I can't pictorially imagine having an immediate unprincipled superior who has a poor leadership and cannot fully express her normal self in refine English but a jibberish constipated English.A 3rd time flunkers ugly coyote, educated in the medical field yet, professionally uncultured busybody. Moreover, a questionably unvarnished to teach.
Handful subordinates whom I called a yesman hyena and nothing but a coward hopeless slavish followers,short-necked individuals or let say Sip-sip in Tagalog serves devil advocates aggravating the circumstances with the desire they won't be evicted.
Without realizing that they were on the abysmal ignorance, clouded the silly rules of this bumptious outsider.Claimant as religious leader but a leech-sucking of the sophisticating intelligentsia of this poor country. This outsider hails from out of nowhere seemingly enjoying of ejecting tenants unfairly.
May God forgive me for bringing this out in the open allowing everybody to read online.
When you allow emotions to voice out freely, word of adjective came out easily as likely to describe these earthly things,DESPICABLE- so to speak.
I just write to explain the bad feelings I have supressed right now and I know that the tone of my writing affects the moods of the readers.Nevertheless,'am I hitting the wall so hard enough for them to collapse? well, its just a statement or act of freeing myself from moral pains.
Honest to goodness,I praised God - He allowed things to happen which I realized somehow that faraway I already made history.
Now, I already crossed the line and dance upon the rain that there is always a way to escape from strife.
If there is something to loose, there's everything to go....the final shout is over...thanks to this internet thing..emotions that can't be spoken out verbally, there is an option to choose but scribbling them down..and this is it.

A TOUCHING STORY TO LIVE BY

I felt so down and frustrated this week...sorry, I can't bring them out in here.Sometimes, life is unfair but if I started to look up...things changed easily with a satisfying answer.I came across with this story when I checked my friendster...and I felt like posting them here...the story is posted upon the original context without changing the grammar or any errors appear in here. The story goes like this:

There was an
atheist couple who had a child. The
couple never told their daughter
anything about the Lord. One night
when the little girl was 5 years old,
the parents fought with each other and
the Dad shot the Mom, right in front
of the child. Then, the dad shot
himself! The little girl watched it
all. She then was sent to a foster
home. The foster mother was a
Christian and took the child to
church. On the first day of Sunday
School, the foster mother told the
teacher that the girl had never heard
of Jesus, and to have patience with
her. The teacher held up a picture of
Jesus and said, "Does anyone know who
this is?" The little girl said, "I
do,
that's the man who was holding me
the night my parents died
."

FOR THE RECORD

Some friends and close friends..were asking me what is Blog? why,and what did I write on my blog.
Technologically speaking, there are still people who are'nt consciously acquianted with this blog thing in the internet. They are only just familiar with Friendster,MySpace and Multiply but not on Blog.
Well, I told them verbally the reasons, here are my reasons....
This online diary contains the activities of myself. It does not tell about the mere sadness thing that I have been into everyday, but a paraphrase of events that I usually do.
I evaded to write down the sadness, but, since this is an online diary open for public viewing and reading, yet,I finally decided to include them. Recording the happenings is very essential because it would help me to pack my things as I continue my traveling this sod.
Warnings was the first caution that I told them....I don't Grammar-check, nor Spelling-Check unless time would permit me to edit the whole thing.
The journey may seems not smooth, though, the sailings bombarded with collosal storms, the trails or the footstep that I left is only a memories of the past which molded the other half of me.
It may or this may not declares the factual of my persona, the events that has been scribbled each moment will remain a records at this point of time forever.
Odds as others may describe it, to a man at my age records his life to a piece of paper or in the internet, but still I sometimes think it's horrible that you find you can never really confide in people, even in those who are near to you but to post them online.
Time's continue to run, days' changed as human too speedily. My journal online is the thoughts and expressions the better half of me.Living under extraordinary conditions, envelope with hopes and dreams, and for this reason my diary tells or would tell me much about the yesterdays & yesteryears of my life.
It rekindles me the days that I have missed or the chances that I have failed to devulge.
And for this reason too,I felt how close I am to all. This is also an appropriate monument to my fine spirit amidst of the usual failings that I have momentarily do.
Ang labo ng entry ko this time anoh??? well,I can't really write nor has the gift but I just take my chances lang kung ma develop ba.

My Trip to Baguio

I still clearly remember my first trip to Baguio last December 2006. That was my first time to spend the yuletide season away from my akin.
The trip I had last 2006 at Baguio wasn't mainly emphasizing on tour around the Pine city but a Youth Spiritual Conference. Practically, we stayed most likely in teacher's Camp throughout the 2 weeks.
Nonetheless, we tried to sneak out in the midst of the Conference just to find out how beautiful Baguio was.
My propensity or inclination to travel ignited once more when my cousin that just works in Baguio invited us to spend most of the weekend there.
We chose to leave at 11 pm at Pasay-Victory Liner Bus Station so that we can arrive in Baguio early morning of 5. Time expected to arrive by 5 wasn't met because the road traverses to Marcos highway densely filled or covered with thick fog which the driver was hard to see through the way up to Baguio.
The foothills nor the mountains can't speak the coldness of the morning, due to the garment of fogs worn over the Pine city. I haven't seen such a fog bank or mass of thick fog during the rainy season as thick as that in Baguio.
At the immediate moment of our arrival in Baguio, we decided to look for a place to stay in for a while since we lost contact with our cousin. We found one that wasn't a so expensive hotel, so to speak.
We stole some quiet moments to take some snapshots early morning as the freezing wind shooing the shrouding fog to clear the city.
I continue to demand steadily prioritizing Camp John Hay as our primary destination since it's the only place in Baguio I haven't visited, yet, on the contrary, it was the second to the last place we had stopped.
We had our sumptuous lunch in "little John Hay resto" before we went to Hotel Manor, the extravagant hotel in Camp John Hay.
The hotel that we had checked in was adjacent to Burnham Park and 500 meters away from SM. Baguio is the third shopping spree in main Luzon because of its affordable and known to be the ukay-ukay capital of the Philippines or wag-wagan by Ilocanos.
Looking for some good quality of ukay-ukay yet affordable? hit Baguio as a place for digging imported clothes while chilling out.
Honestly, Baguio is already a crowded, moderately polluted city, however, you won't feel any stress because of the relaxing and soothing weather. I think one way to stress out all the casualty and causative is to try the healing wonders of "weather therapy".Especially those worry-warts, consider Baguio as a healing place to freeze the anxiety and break the frozen ice of misfortunes in life.
As we were climbing aboard, a veteran Philippine Actress who usually plays the villain, a pure mestiza former Miss Philippines was also a fellow passenger. She seated in front of our seats. It's because we recognized her, we politely asked for a picture which I personally approached here in a certain.
Conceitedly she responded with pride to give her enough time for a catnap with raising her voice sufficient for the other passengers to look back astonishingly.
I couldn't believe that she was that nagger off-cam.
After a while she apologized for being so mean, knowing that we're professionals. If she's weren't a veteran actor we wouldn't waste time on picture taking.

A great souvenir from Baguio is to have a picture taking with the Igorot...

Different SM among the SM malls.....no need to use of air conditioner at all.

Three of a kind...which above us is SM-Baguio.

Hanging out at Burnham with my cousin....

The El Kabayo of Baguio....trimmed with different colors...refused to smile 'coz of the obnoxious odor of the dung thing.

Leaning the Mansion gate's.......

The White House of the Philippines....the Mansion.

Statue of Burnham, the man behind what Baguio it is to be now....a park was named after him Burnham Park.

Baguio Cathedral...one of Baguio's landmarks.

Freezing time at Baguio....feels like in Germany.

A giant gate that dwarfs the passersby....

Enticing colors invited the visitors to come down and see the breathtaking Mines View.

the landscape that captures our camera...honestly it was pretty.

Fogs wrapped the crowded slums of Baguio.....thanks to the weather it covers the eyesore sight.

At Hotel Manor...fog almost embraces the whole building....

PMPA...is among the destinations that we love to visit.... well-manicured garden made the environment more attractive.

The comfortable abode that we stayed in Baguio....

Bangkok City - Thailand
