Thai Traditional Costumes

Last month, We held a program restricted to Thai students in Grade 5. Before the day when they all wore them, I was unaware that they would be donning their traditional garb. I enjoyed seeing them and how ecstatic they were to wear their national attire. Their pride in being Thai was evident from the expressions on their faces.
Thailand always promotes and dresses in traditional garb to the best of their ability, and this is something I admire about them. Every day, they dressed professionally in places like schools, offices, government institutions, and other areas aside from hospitals.
I wish the Philippines had to go through with it as well. When visiting almost all Southeast Asia nations, including Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, and Cambodia, people always dress according to their cultural traditions, which defines who they are and allows you to identify them as being from that nation. Western culture has already influenced the Philippines, and we constantly look to it as the ideal to imitate rather than sticking to our own. The Philippines has allegedly already lost its true Filipino identity.
And as a teacher working abroad, this made me depressed. I left Thailand in November 2009 to work in Europe and Cambodia for almost four years in an effort to find a better opportunity before deciding to return to Thailand.
Anyway, these are the photographs that I took during the program with my Grade 5 students.

Travel Photos: Foodies in Siem Reap - Cambodia

It's been two weeks and a half since I came here in the land of the Khmers. Enjoying my teaching job just as the students are pretty good in speaking English.
Trying to familiarize myself around the nearby places & for that two weeks, I already gained a couple of Filipino (new) friends.
As a newbie, it's kinda hard what food to eat and buy in the market especially if you are in a foreign country. Though, Cambodia is just a neighboring brother of Philippines yet, we are still different in terms of food stuff. I tried to get some photos in the wet market close by. Honestly, can't imagine myself of eating these foods serving like this..

Photography Captures of A Thai Monks

Came across to Samuel's blog and got these pixies as he explained how the Western people like him thought of a serene peaceful picture of a monks in Thailand. As an Asian, that's exactly the same perceptions I had somewhat a saintly and holistic images of sort, but on the contrary, discouragement would be firstly hit you to describe these religious servants in Thailand but as the day you stay longer you'll get used to it and be unmindful of what you see around even in the temples.
On the lighter note, I enjoyed myself observing the monks doing their rituals and ceremonies, and sometimes mingling with them in the temples in Bangkok.
The pixies that you are viewing right now is rightly true as what Samuel describes on his blog the misbehaving monks.

MEMORIES I HAD IN PATTAYA - THAILAND

One of the memories I had for one year stayed in Thailand was traveling down south of Bangkok, Pattaya. It is also one of the hottest places in Thailand for western tourists since it's pretty close to Bangkok and not so expensive compared to Phuket.
The pride in Pattaya is the beaches which are not impressive so to speak, however, westerners don't care about it at all. There's so much to see outside of Pattaya city if you'll not enjoy the beaches, there's Noong Nooch tropical garden and other tourist spots. My trip to Pattaya was unplanned, and it took me the courage to decide since I was just fresh from my trip in Hongkong and that trip really cost me an arm and a leg. Going to Pattaya wasn't a long trip from Bangkok, there's no traffic and there's a lot of cheaper places to stay if you are on a budgeted trip.

Not so busy floating market...

Indians inspired replica...at Noongnooch tropical garden.

rounded stones, as they said intentionally made for the King.

even the cottages are not good but old and some were already tattered.

Faces that mattered .....Pattaya beach.

My first Thai jetski ride...

Thai street vendor in Pattaya beach....

Pattaya's floating market is better than of that famous market in Damnoen Saduak, its not crowded, its big and so much to see.

You'll surely enjoy Pattaya's floating market, though its quite expensive especially for foreigners..

delicious Thai traditional food.

Floating houses that are connected to another house.

I have freshly arrived from Hongkong and my friends in Bangkok invited me to get along with them.

we ruled that day....since it happens once.

we visited this park for its famous golden buddha carved on a rocky mountain.

My first elephant ride in life....

I believed that we Filipinos can make a better one than this in Thailand...why don't we make one, even foreign tourists came to see and appreciated this garden.

My first photograph...I mean serious about taking photos...Pattaya, Thailand.
